My family and I moved to Matfield in 2015. Before settling in to this beautiful village, my husband and I spent 15 years running our own business in Cornwall and Sevenoaks.
It would be fair to say that my professional life has been somewhat eclectic! I have worked for a bank, managed a London law firm and performed on stage in both musical theatre and solo concerts. Whilst I still perform occasionally, my main focus these days is imparting my knowledge and sharing my experiences with the next generation of performers, and I teach singing to students at two schools in Tonbridge.
Not wishing to suffer from ’empty-nest’ syndrome, I enrolled on a degree course in Medieval History when my youngest daughter left home to study at university. I particularly enjoyed researching the origins of Tonbridge and surrounding villages as part of my studies and will gladly share my new-found knowledge with anyone who expresses an interest!
Why become a parish councillor? Well, I want and hope to be able to make a difference, however small, to the lives of the residents of our glorious parish. I’m a firm believer that, if we all work together, we can help to ensure that the frenetic pace of life and ‘progress’ of the 21st century does not impact too greatly on our beautiful and historic parish.
