Highways Improvement Plan (HIP)

The Parish Council works with Kent County Council to establish priorities for highways improvements, including speeding restrictions, traffic calming measures and signage, this is done by way of a Highways Improvement Plan (HIP).  This document is the working document that is used to note progress on all the measures the PC are seeking to be established in the Parish, including data collection surveys (ATCs).  The priorities are discussed by the Parish Council throughout the year with KCC and at an annual HIP review meeting with KCC in the Autumn.  The current active HIP in place is available below:

Speed Indicator Devices (SIDs)

The Parish Council has two SIDs, one large one and one small one.

Their locations are determined by Kent County Council and there is a limited number of positions permitted in each parish.  Each SID device has to be moved every 4-6 weeks, the battery changed and the data downloaded.  We currently have 5 poles, two of which are turned to face the other way in two locations, giving the parish 7 locations for data collection.

1. Opposite Matfield Village Hall facing Kippings Cross
2. Opposite Matfield Village Hall facing Standings Cross
3. Brenchley Memorial Hall facing Matfield
4. Market Heath facing Brenchley
5. Market Heath facing Matfield
6. Brenchley Road (Corsica Villas) facing Standings Cross

Data from the Speed Indicator Devices is published as news items on the website and on Facebook
